The Ice-House

Between the fish pond and the lake there is an artificial hill. It houses something that characterised all parks in the past: an ice-house. The ice-house probably dates back to the 17th century and along with its practical function, that is to store and keep ice during the warm season, it also had a "landscape" function, giving the chance to create a path and a belvedere on the top.
Paolo Camerini had a rail slipway for boats built on the side of the ice-house. The headway of the boat sliding down the slipway into the water allowed reaching the shore of the isle. Opposite the ice-house, in front of the lake, there is a chalet (13th century) used to rest after the tennis matches that here were played on a concrete court.
