The Veneto region, with 14 million tourist arrivals and nearly 61 million of overnight stays per year, is still the leading region in Italy, and amongst the first ones in Europe.

The revenue deriving from tourism economy in the Veneto amounts to 12 billion Euros and is equal to 5.5% of the Regional Gross Income.
Maintaining and possibly raising this competitive position, is the challenge both difficult and motivating that directly involves not only politicians, but all participants to this project.
The outline of regional policies on tourism, the rules and regulations that apply, as well as the organization of the tourist offer and the strategic objectives to be reached, are to be drawn from a greater and common project, coming from a careful observation of the socio-economic context and its evolution, from the fluctuation in the world demand, as well as from the structural and organizational changes in the regional tourism system.
These were the main topics discussed at the Regional Conference on Tourism through which the Veneto region intended to gather, organized in different thematic working tables, all the representatives of public institutions and all the main tourism stakeholders.
